Hungary (in Hungarian: Magyarország) is officially known as Magyar Köztársaság in Hungarian and as the Republic of Hungary in English.

It is a landlocked country in the Carpathian Basin of Central Europe and has borders with Austria, the Slovak Republic, Ukraine, Romania, Serbia, Croatia, and Slovenia. Its capital is Budapest.

Hungary has been a member state of the European Union since 1st May 2004.
